"In the beginning of the book (The Seeker) the attraction between Charlotte and Adam is just explosive. Why couldn't she just forget what's his name and just go straight to Adam? I am almost finished with the book and I love Charlotte and Adam. These two characters just jump off the pages and make me feel like I know them." - Sandra, GA

"I decided to read the first couple of pages of Angels at the Crossroads while I ran my bathwater. Instead, I kept reading and kept adding hot water to the bath until I finished the entire biography." - Judith, KY

"I just wanted to e-mail you and tell you how much I love your books. Mt first one was The Outsider and I was hooked, then I read The Believer and The Seeker. I loved them all and I just finished the Hollyhill series. I could not put these books down, when I was reading about Harvey seeing the angels and Sally's testimony in church in the Orchard of Hope, I was crying so hard, oh, how that touched my heart. Thank you so much for your faith-believing books and the way God is such an important part and His word." - Anita, NC

"I am new to your books....recently found them on the library bookshelves yet read through your Hollyhill series in about 9 days. ...I loved the complexity of your Hollyhill characters....how many different lives you showed some depth into, while managing to connect their lives. The suspense, quirkiness, switching back and forth between characters, love, and God's presence highlighted throughout the novels made them such fun, interesting, addictive reads! I love the way you allow us readers to get into the heads of your characters. Jocie was so endearing." - Randi

"Love your books....I first read The Outsider and loved it (picked it up because I thought it was Amish) but now am very interested in the Shakers....will search out The Believer......I have now read the Hollyhill series and am hoping that you are thinking of continuing to let us know what else is going on in that little town and the Brooke family and am praying that you can write them faster as I read fast" - Joyce, NM

"Just read The Believer and I loved it! I am so reminded that we do not have to do anything to receive the Lord's Salvation but just accept it as His free Gift!" - Leah, TX

"I did read every word of your newsletter and I did enjoy it! It's nice knowing that you are "real folk!" I have so enjoyed all the books that you have penned so far! I am anxious to read the next one and the next!" - Roseann, NC 06/09

"Oh, Ann, I even enjoyed reading your newsletter like I did your book and I've figured it out...you are just a 'good old country girl!'" - Doris, Kentucky 06/09

"I want to thank you again for penning this series. I have always wanted to see the Shaker life come alive in a novel and I think you did a marvelous job." - Joanne, Sister Circle Book Club, 05/09

"Last spring I purchased The Scent Of Lilacs at one of The Patriot Quartet's concerts in Pennsylvania. I could hardly wait until they came back to the area in the fall to purchase the other two books in the Hollyhill Series. I also purchased The Outsider at the same time. When I read the Hollyhill Series with Jocie and the rest of her family, I felt as though I was taken into the story and back in time. When I read The Outsider, I finished it in two days. I just couldn't pull myself away from it." - Barb, PA 03/09

"I read on your website that Summer of Joy was the finishing novel for the HollyHill series. Would you please consider changing your mind about that? After all David and Leigh go through to get married and Jocie's escapades prior to the wedding, I'd love to see them working at a new marriage, step parenting, a possible new baby for the newly-weds, a wedding for Tabitha and Robert. Little Stephen Lee deserves a chunk in the next story. And who can leave Wes and Zella out? They need each other if ever supporting characters ever did!!!!! Both of them are 'down on love' for themselves but are excited for others' love. So why not have them fall gently but madly in love with each other, no matter how difficult, improbable and unexpected that would be? And as hard a character as DeeDee was, could you have her change her mind about the Lord, write a letter to her family about her change of heart before she dies and then have the Brooke family find their individual ways through grieving her death? And Mt Pleasant church needs to love on their Pastor and his new wife. I'm not asking much am I? :-) Just a happy reader's suggestions for more!!!!!....Elizabeth, Canada - 02/09

"I finished the Scent of Lilacs. It was awesome. I couldn't put it down. I got so caught up in it and now I am on Orchard of Hope and its just as good. I do believe you should win awards on this series as well." ..Connie, Texas - 02/09

"Your book The Scent of Lilacs was my book clubs book for January. It was loved by everyone and they are all anxious to read the rest of the series." - Stephanie, Georgia - 02/09

I'm just finishing up Summer of Joy and am wondering if there will be any more books in this series? I almost hate to finish it, but it will be easier if I know there will be more to read about these characters. It's so nice to read books that are not filled with violence or sex or filthy language!! Keep up the great writing. :-) -- Peggy, 12/08

"Thanks for writing books that transport me right into the character's lives".
-- Marilyn

I looked you up after reading "The Outsider"... It made it all the more interesting to read about the Battle of the River Raisin as my ancestor, a great-great grandfather survived and was taken prisoner by the Indians and I had no idea what was involved. So thanks from Barrow, Alaska where I live now. ...Lee 12/08

I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your writings. I am learning a little more everyday about the Bible and I have learned a lot by just reading your books. I love the way you insert scripture or references to stories in the Bible. I find myself putting your books down and looking up things in my Bible and finding new things in there that I never had discovered before. For instance, I just had to look up the story of Gideon and see what you meant about the wool with the dew on it. I had never seen that in the Bible until I read your book The Scent of Lilacs. I truly hope you will continue to write more inspirational Christian fiction. - Stephanie, 12/08

I finished Orchard of Hope this afternoon. ... One of the sentences that I loved - "There was a different hymn for each day sort of like day-of-the-week underwear." Another thing I liked was the part of God having a sense of humor. I've been convinced for a long time that He does. And near the end, when Cassidy went up to the podium and stood beside Miss Sally, the tears were flowing so fast, I could hardly see the page. Just a lovely, lovely book about an extraordinary family... - Dee, 12/08

Just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much I enjoy your books. I just finished reading 'The Scent of Lilacs.' And I loved it...just as I have loved you other publications. ... By the way, GO WILDCATS!! I, too, am a big college basketball fan! - Karen, 11/08

I simply devoured the books in the Hollyhill series. I picked up "The Scent of Lilacs" at the grand opening of a new book store. I bought it because I loved the illustration on the cover. The bike looks a lot like mine, and my very favorite scent is lilacs. I did not know there were 2 more books in the series--but I found them on Amazon.com. After reading all three, I'm writing to ask if you have any plans to revisit Hollyhill. I would LOVE to see how the story progresses after the wedding. -Marilyn, 10/08

I just finished reading your novel The Outsider. Please! You've got to write a sequel to this book to let us know what happened with Gabrielle and Brice. - Linda, 10/08

I wanted to tell you how much my wife and I enjoyed your talk Saturday at the book festival in Charleston. I see that you are classed as an "inspirational" writer. You are an inspirational speaker as well. I wish you much continued success with your work. - Joe, 10/08

I just wanted to take a quick minute to tell you how much I appreciate your talent. The Brooke family and especially Jocie have become a part of me in the last few weeks. I had a hard time putting each book down and cried when I had finished the last one. Thank you for helping me through my husband's deployment to Iraq. - Dena, 10/08

I live in Rochester, NY. I just finished reading The Outsider and I have to say, I was very intrigued by the insight that you portrayed through Gabrielle about the Shaker way of life. I read mostly historical fiction, and I am always interested in learning about different viewpoints and cultures that have shaped our religions of today. -Amber, 09/08

Just had to let you know how much I love the new book The Outsider. I didn't think I'd get so involved with the characters as I did with the Hollyhill books but I was wrong. ... I keep finding reasons to sneak away and read instead of doing my chores, my house is very messy..lol. ...can't wait to see what's next. - Carrie, 09/08

...I mentioned my interest in the Shakers (to your editor) and the fact that I'd proposed a Shaker series to Bethany House a number of years ago. The editor wasn't particularly interested in the idea, and I was truly saddened because I think there is great history in the Shaker communities. When I saw that you were doing a series on them, I was absolutely delighted and told Lonnie I couldn't wait to read The Outsider. She graciously sent me a copy and I enjoyed it very much. It is one of the picks in my upcoming newsletter. -- Judy Miller, Bethany House author - Latest Releases: An Uncertain Dream & An Unexpected Love

...just finished reading "The Outsider" and what a wonderful book it was! I couldn't put it down! ... I couldn't wait to see what happened next! You were so in depth with the Shakers I actually feel like I understand what they were all about. The twists and turns in the book were so well done, even though at times heartbreaking, that I find myself wondering "what's next". - Lynne, 09/08

Just finished Summer of Joy. What a great series. Is there any chance you might do another Hollyhill followup? Truly, they were great books and I shed a few tears along the way. - Diane, 09/08

You are too funny! It's so refeshing to meet an outstanding lady who loves the Lord and has a wonderful sense of humor! Yes, laughter is the best medicine (not to mention a great fountain of youth)!!! - Christina, 07/08

I always enjoy your newsletter!!! - Nova Jean, 07/08

Interesting reading!!! Not only your books but your blog and web-site as well!! - Lou Jean, 07/08

I just discovered your books and finished Orchard of Hope this morning. As an avid reader and sometimes writer, I had to write and tell you what a treasure it was for me. I cried through the whole ending. Your characters were so developed that I felt as if I were sitting there as a member of the church witnessing each scene going on around me. I just finished it, found your website and am now ordering the other books. Thank you for working so hard to develop these books for your readers. You have a fan for life. - Donna, 07/08
