When I’m doing one of these mystery photo contests, I start looking at every picture I take, wondering if I can trick you all with a close up bit of one of the photos. Some of them are too fuzzy when I enlarge a section of the photo. Some of them are too obvious. I tried hard to use something from the cover of my new mystery, Murder at the Courthouse. That is one of the books the winners will be able to choose when I do the drawing on October 25, 2015. I did a snippet of the cat’s head. It looked just like a cat’s ear or when I tried the other end of the cat, the tail was plain as day. Neither picture would have fooled any of you. So I tried zooming in on the barbershop jar in the window. The comb was even more obvious than it looks on the cover. I tried a courthouse pillar, but the windows were definitely windows. So I can give you all a hint about this week’s mystery photo. It is not from the cover of my book!
I had to go looking elsewhere. I found a pretty one. Not sure how tricky it will be. I never know about that. Sometimes I think the picture will be hard to guess and virtually everybody knows what it is. But again the best part of it all is having fun with the pictures and another good part for you is that each time you guess on a new mystery picture, you get another entry in the drawing. So with more entries, your chances of winning go up. At least they should.
I’m one of those people who rarely wins anything, but a couple of years ago, I bought tickets at a charity raffle on a little Christmas tree. They had a number of decorated trees and a jar in front of each tree for you to add your ticket. Some people were putting a ticket in each jar. I bought five tickets and put them all in the jar in front of the tree I liked best. My chances went up and my name was pulled out of the jar. It’s the little dog tree that I put in what we call Oscar’s room. A perfect place for it.
You’re probably ready to know about the last mystery photo and wondering why I am going on about Christmas trees. Okay, here’s last week’s mystery picture and the rest of the picture too. The chimney on top of an old log cabin we saw in the Smoky Mountains.
Only one person got the guess completely right. Nancy actually said a chimney on a cabin roof. Several of you knew it was rocks, but you were down by the creek. 🙂 Others guessed a fungus on a tree. That was a great guess. Just happened to be wrong. And Kathi had help from her grandson to guess a pine cone. I can see where he might think that. Thanks for guessing. You all got another entry into my drawing. Remember, it doesn’t have to be the right guess, just a guess to enter the giveaway. But you must be 18 to enter and the winners (3) will be picked by random number drawing using an internet program.
Hope you’ll have fun guessing on the new picture. Thanks for playing my guessing giveaway game.

It looks like a spider web made out of beads or crystals……a Halloween decoration.

Thanks for dropping by with a guess, Charlotte. I’ve revealed the rest of the picture in last night’s post, but your guess still gets you an entry in the drawing. It is an actual spiderweb after a rain.
Hmmm this looks obvious that it would be rain on a spider web but it also looks like it could be a close up of a tree branch. This photo is stunning. I’m going to go with my first guess of a spider web with rain droplets.

And you’d be right, Deanne. It was a lovely picture, but not one that fooled very many people. Thanks for stopping by with a guess. You got an entry in the drawing. You can see the rest of the picture on last night’s post and perhaps guess on the new photo to get another entry in the drawing.

That is the popular guess, Shirley. Come back Sunday to see if everybody was right. 🙂
Ann,you have me stumped ! I thought rain drops on a spider web ,then rain drops on a bare branch of a bush. But the *drops* are too evenly divided to be raindrops. So that’s my answer and i’m sticking to it ! lol

Stumped is good, Faye. That’s what I’m trying for. LOL. Come back Sunday to see if you were right, wrong or otherwise.
