Have you ever been on a Scavenger Hunt? When we were kids, we would sometimes do a scavenger hunt as a game. We would start with one clue like maybe “What gets hot and blows its top?” Then we’d go hide the next clue in the teakettle spout. That clue might be “What dries by getting wet?” So we’d go search through a stack of towels. It was always fun trying to figure out the clues and fun coming up with the clues too.
Then, I was on a cruise one time and the recreation people had us do a little different scavenger hunt by giving us a list of things to find. The only item I can remember now was “a sock with a hole in it.” People were scrambling back to their rooms to hunt a holey sock. But one guy just took off his shoe and pulled off his sock because of course, all socks have a hole in them where we put them on. That kind of scavenger hunt is fun too, and I’ve tried similar ones with my Bible school classes a few times. With them, I usually do nature items or maybe a question like “What’s the preacher’s favorite Bible verse?” You have to make sure the preacher is all right with that. 🙂
Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt
Tomorrow you can take part in a virtual scavenger hunt when the Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt goes live at noon Pacific time. I think that will be 2 p.m. EST. I did this a few years ago and it was great fun. In this scavenger hunt, you have to gather clues. You click to each stop (there are 33 stops in this hunt, but you have all weekend to hop through the stops) and gather those clues (words) that when put together make a quote. The participants then go to the last stop and enter the quote to be in the running for some great prizes. Over $500 and 100 plus books. Even better, many of the Scavenger Hunt authors are giving out extra prizes on their blogs. I am and you can come back Friday to see what that prize is. I think you’ll like it. You will enter for those prizes at each author’s blog.
Questions and the Southern Kentucky Book Fest
So, I hope some of you will give it a try and I hope one of you will win the big prizes. I’m looking forward to hearing from you, and if you have any questions, just ask. I might be a little slow to respond Friday and Saturday since I’ll be at the Southern Kentucky Book Fest in Bowling Green, KY. Come on out if you’re in the area and you can ask me your questions in person. It’s from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CST. I’ll be on a panel with other mystery writers talking about mysterious things at 1 p.m. 🙂 Would love to see you in person. But if you’re too far away, I always enjoy hearing from you here and the Scavenger Hunt is a great way to get to know some new Christian authors and find out about their books and more.
As always, thanks for reading.
