“I love to see the sunshine on the wings of the Dragonflies… there is magic in it.” ~Ama H. Vanniarachchy
And so we are down to our last mystery photo for this Mystery Photo Game. We’ll play again but I have to have time to gather up some more mysterious photos. You people are sometimes hard to trick with my mystery photos. I was surprised that Sunday’s mystery photo helped you all exercise your imaginations. I thought more of you would be like Linda Mc and say “I’ve got this one!” And she did as did Tammy with one of the very first comments on the post. I’m groaning and thinking everybody is going to get the picture. But then imaginations kicked in with some fun guesses. I showed the picture to a couple of my granddaughters. One guessed beehive right away the same as some of you and the other was thinking sunlight on mosaic the way others of you were guessing.
They did both get my mystery photo for this post, so I have no hope that it’s the difficult one I thought sure it would be. But I’m posting it anyway. Maybe it’s time for an easier one since I’ve had a pretty good track record with difficulty in this round of mystery pictures except for the first butterfly wing one.
My dragonfly did trick many of you although an insect wing was a popular guess. I expected the snake skin guesses and thought there might be more fish scale guesses, but only Loretta said that. Janice W. not only got it right. She knew what kind of dragonfly it was. A Widow Skimmer. Here’s a little info about it. “The widow skimmer is a large dragonfly with a wingspan of up to 8 cm. The unique wings of the widow skimmer are dark at the base, white in the middle and transparent at the tips, creating a stripe-like pattern. The widow skimmer can be found up to elevations of 1,700 m.” They can also be found in my hay fields and rarely sit still long enough for me to get a picture, but I caught up with this one early in the morning when it must have still been sleeping. But they best not sleep around Frankie. He is ready to try to catch them.
The dragonfly is an exceptionally beautiful insect and a fierce carnivore. It has four wings that beat independently. This gives it an ability to maneuver in the air with superb dexterity. A dragonfly can put on a burst of speed, stop on a dime, hover, fly backward, and switch direction in a flash. This is a hunting behavior known as hawking. ~Richard Preston
Thanks to all of you for playing my mystery photo game. I’ll pick the last two winners from all the names in my drawing hat. The winners will get to pick one of my books as a prize.
I am ready to draw another winner in my newsletter giveaway since I never heard from Missy, the first place winner. So it will be back to the drawing hat so I can get those prizes mailed out. But it might take me a few days since my twin grandsons are coming to visit this week. We’ll have to think up some fun things to do. Maybe chase a few Widow Skimmer dragonflies over in the hay field.
Also if you like to e-read, you can still grab some of my books are great prices. Angel Sister is either 99 or 79 cents according to where you’re e-book shopping. The Hidden Springs mysteries are all on e-book sale. Murder at the Courthouse is 99 cents. Murder Comes by Mail is $1.79 and Murder Is No Accident is $1.99. But the sales end very soon. Always double check your price before you buy if you want to make sure the deal is still good.
As always, thanks for reading.

More great imagining going on, guys. I’ve been busy with the grandsons visiting and just now have time to read your comments. Love them.
Janice, I like how you’re definite with your guess. Could be you’re definitely right. Could be you’re definitely wrong.
Mandy, several have agreed with you on the fish tank guess. I do think fish swimming in a tank is very pretty. And those little jewels and pebbles do make the tanks attractive. But the question is did I take a picture of that?
Ola, I love your guess. I’m seeing the fairies sitting down to tea. Thanks so much for playing my mystery picture game. Your guess has me smiling and who knows? Maybe I stumbled across some fairies out in the woods. 🙂
Faith, I thought this picture would be my hardest one, but it hasn’t been 100 percent hard. Now the question is are you the one that’s right?
Laura Shick, after Ola’s guess, I like yours best. I know exactly what kind of paperweight you mean and you know, writers do love anything to do with paper. So could be I have one of those on my desk. Could be I took a picture of it. Or not. Check in tomorrow night to see.

Laura, at least you’re guessing and thinking about what it might be. Water on a flower is a close guess to several others. Could be you aren’t as stumped as you think.
Linda, eggplants are purple, aren’t they? And they could have water droplets on them, couldn’t they? We raised eggplants once. Didn’t know what to do with them after I picked them. LOL.
Loretta, love purple iris. And I have some purple iris that bloom in the spring. I might have taken a picture of one. I might have.
Connie, yours is the popular guess. And you’re leaving the door open with a general flower instead of suggesting a specific flower. Hmm, is that cheating? No, of course not since you might not even be right.
Darlene, I love your honesty. I’ll let you in on a secret. I’m not good at this kind of thing either. I imagine words not pictures that I have to guess. But I do think it’s fun to look at the pictures and wonder.
How about one of those glass paperweights that have dried flowers in them?
What do you think Ann? Close?
A fish tank maybe?
Could be a little purple petunia flower.

I appreciate you all continuing on with the game while I’ve distracted all day by my visiting grandsons. They are twins, but not identical and I have to admit they do sound like brothers with the fussing sometimes. No imagination needed for those of you who have more than one kid close to the same ages. But I am glad you are enjoying the Mystery Photo Game.
Nancy, you are alone with your guess of a flower, but I think you may be the first to suggest a petunia. Petunias are such hardy little flowers, aren’t they? So maybe they do have jewels inside.
Karen, I love how you admit you haven’t a clue but are still here enjoying the game. Always good to read your comments.
Lucy, now don’t be thinking you’re wrong before you start. Pansy might even be a right answer. You may be turning the corner for home with that guess. Maybe.
Emily, love your guess. You have such a great imagination. Jewels on a purple blanket. Now all I need is a purple blanket and some jewels.
Una, your guess is a popular one, but a little different with the water drop addition. Thanks for playing my Mystery Photo Game.
Lavon, you say you’re stumped but then you come up with that popular flower guess. I love it that you roped in your grandson to help you guess and he came up with such a super guess.
Amy, I don’t know that I’ve seen a purple butterfly either, but then the sunshine can make things look different. So who knows? You might be right.
Looks like a fairy’s table setting to me!!
This one is really hard. I think maybe a butterfly ‘s wing.
