“The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.”
― Arthur Conan Doyle
A new book ready to be released means it’s Mystery Photo time. I’ve been trying hard to see things in a new light so that I can somehow make them very mysterious for you. 🙂 But everything I try, I decide you’ll guess right away. While I don’t mind some of you figuring out my mysteries, it’s no fun for me if all of you figure out my mystery photos. But you are an observant bunch, perhaps made even more observant by playing my Mystery Photo games. I’m stealing a little credit anyway.
Some of you are going to think this is funny. I just went to the picture file where I have kept my mystery photos from the past along with the original photo that solves the mystery. I couldn’t match them all up. Some of them I had no idea what they were. True mysteries to me. Makes me wonder if I should replay some of those mysteries. But first I’d have to figure out what they were myself, wouldn’t I? A mystery game where the mystery never get solved wouldn’t be much fun.
Anyway, I’m taking the plunge into a new game with the picture above. You may all recognize what it is right away. And if so, I’ll simply congratulate you for your keen mystery solving skills while I try harder to trick you with the mystery picture on my next post. I’ll be out there or in here taking pictures of everything to see what I can make mysterious. LOL.
Oh, yeah, and there will be book prizes. We’ll play the mystery photo game for a couple of weeks. Each time you guess (or solve) a new mystery photo or simply say “I don’t know,” you’ll get an entry in the drawing. I’ll draw for the winners (three of you) and contact you by e-mail as well as announce the winners here on my blog post on Sunday, May 5th. Winners will get their choice of one of my books which could be my upcoming release, The Refuge, if that’s the winner’s choice. The Refuge is going to be out there for readers any day now. I’ll throw in a grab bag book by a different author to sweeten the pot. You must be at least 18 years old to enter. But you can let your kids help you guess. 🙂
I’m also sending out a newsletter with a prize chance this week too. A fun prize that’s very Shakerish. So if you haven’t signed up for my newsletter yet, now would be a good time. The sign-up form is in the margin here on my website.
Happy Easter
Here in Kentucky we had a beautiful Easter day after a couple of pretty crummy cold and rainy days. I’m thinking Saturday was extra crummy since my grandkids were all here and it’s more fun when we can enjoy the spring sunshine outside. We did have an Easter egg hunt (the youngest kids hunted) but they hunted fast to get back inside. My son, granddaughter and I hid them pretty fast in a misty rain too. LOL.
But rain or shine, family home for Easter is great. And rain or shine, gathering with my church family on Resurrection Sunday is always a blessing. Hope your Easter weekend was a blessed one too.
As always, thanks for reading. I’ll look forward to your guesses – as long as they aren’t all right. 🙂

The quill of feathers used for ink or an unusual fins of a fish. LOL
Could it be poppy seed pods ?
I think it might be cat tails bursting out in the low land
Looks like whiskers on a dog or cat! 😉 I don’t think you’ll ever have to worry about “everyone” guessing since my name’s in the pot! Glad you were able to spend Easter with your family. Sorry the weather didn’t cooperate!!! Rain or shine–He is Risen!

So you think I can count on you guessing wrong, Karen? But what if this time you’re right. I do know some dogs and cats that might let me take pictures of their whiskers. LOL. We had a nice day even though the weather was not so nice. But you are definitely right. Rain or Shine = Jesus defeated the grave.
I am going with dried flowers.
Tail feathers?
Looking forward to reading your newest!

Looks sort of like tail feathers, Laura, so maybe it is. You’ll find out Wednesday. And I’m so glad you are looking forward to going back to Harmony Hill for a new story.

More great guesses. Love it when so many of you play my Mystery Photo Game.
Loretta, I love a lady who is sure of her guess.
Joy B – Hope the wish came true on that dandelion you had.
Robin and Una – You two just up and admitted you didn’t know. Fun.
Lisa – Bird tail feathers. Sounds very reasonable but you’ll have to wait until Wednesday to see if it’s right.
Ola – Birds have been popular in the guesses and a bird nest might very well look like this. We shall see if you are right come Wednesday.
Lisa Bragg – Dried flowers can be very pretty or perhaps stemmy like this picture. Wonder if you’re right?
Lavon – I’m glad you enjoy the mystery photo games. And dandelion has been a popular guess. Popularity doesn’t always mean it’s right.
Faye – you and Lisa Bragg are sort of thinking along the same lines, but if I get what you mean, you think that flower is still on the bush. I do see things like that on my walks. So you could be right. Of course, you could also be wrong.
Joy – I like your guess even though you say you’re no good at the game. Dew on a thistle. Could be a book title.
Linda McFarland – Raindrops on porcupine quills. Interesting.
April – Thistle is a fun guess. Did you see dew on it the way Joy did?
Lucy – Feathers is a great guess. Maybe right. Maybe wrong. But either way, a great guess.
Laurel – More dandelion guesses.
Linda Lincoln – You Lindas are seeing porcupines. But I would have to get a close up on that porcupine, wouldn’t I? Maybe I have a pet porcupine.
Thanks for all the great guesses.
I have no idea.
That looks like porcupine quills, but don’t know how you would have got that close lol
It may be a dandelion seed pod, but I’m not really sure. It’s a fun game, anyway, &, of course, I’d like to be one of the winners!
Turkey feather. I’m so bad at this.
I think it looks like a thistle.
Looks like raindrops on porcupine quills! Probably not, but it looks like something prickly! Looking forward to reading The Refuge!
Kinda looks like dew on a thistle. I am not good at this game. Lol. You are good with your mystery pictures.
Looks like a dried up flower from a bush or weed .
These mystery photo games are so much fun! I’m guessing it’s a dandelion seed pod. My yard is full of them today!
Looks like dried flowers with the seeds ready to harvest.
Some kind of bush. Looks like it could have a bird nest at the edge.
Looks like tail feathers of a bird in a nest.
I have no clue, but …..
Thank you for the chance to win a book.
