The last time always seems sad, but it isn’t really. The end of one thing is only the beginning of another. ~Laura Ingals Wilder, These Happy Golden Years
Thanks to those of you who have dropped in here during the month of December when so much is sometimes going on with Christmas gatherings, special church services, and maybe new books to read. I did get a book under my Christmas tree and I took a little while last night to open it up and start reading. If you are a reading friend who has checked into One Writer’s Journal the last few weeks, you know I’m having an End of the Year Book Giveaway. You have one more chance to throw your name in my giveaway drawing hat by leaving a comment on this last post before the end of the year and before I pick the three winners by random. The winners win their choice of one of my books. If you’ve entered on previous posts, a comment on this post gets you another entry.
For this last 2022 post, I’m sharing a few of the quote graphics my publishers designed for several of my books. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to pick the graphic that might make you want to pick up that particular book. (Can you tell I used to like watching “Mission Impossible?” Not much was impossible for that cast. LOL) Even if you’ve already read the stories, you can look at the quotes with a critical eye to pick the one you think might be most effective at pulling in a new reader. And if you haven’t read the stories, you can do the same.
So here goes. Of course the one up top is from my most recent novel, When the Meadow Blooms. The ones below are from various different books. You can see the titles of the books at the bottom of the graphics.
That’s a variety of choices. So choose the one you think might pull a reader into a story and leave the name of the book (at the bottom of the graphics) to have an entry in my End of the Year Book Giveaway. I’ll pick the winners this weekend and notify them by email. Then I’ll share their first names here next year or Sunday whichever way you want to look at it. 🙂 Can you believe 2023 is almost here? So blessings for the New Year and thanks for making my giveaways such fun.
And always, always, thanks for reading!

Ann, I’ve enjoyed all the books I read by you. I’ve also learned a lot by reading them. Our home state is a wonderful place and so full of historic things. May 2023 be a great year for you and your family.

Thank you, Elaine. I am hoping to come up with some more great story ideas to set in Kentucky. Love writing about my home state. And thank you so much for reading my stories.

In this last bunch of comments, Appalachian Summer grabbed the most interest with Lucy, Robin Ann, Vickie, and Sarah all picked that one. Truda was a fun character to get to know while I was writing that story.
Thanks, Linda Diane, for loving them all. Love having you as a reader.
Barb, you thought it a hard choice too, but then you picked River to Redemption. That is a heartfelt quote from my young Adria.
Karen, you could be right about Mary since she was in a tough spot for that time. But isn’t it amazing that her cousin Elizabeth knew Mary’s baby was the Savior without being told and then so did her unborn baby, John? When you read that in the Bible, you have to embrace that amazement.
Diana, I’m glad you liked the Hidden Springs quote for Murder by Mail. Those mysteries were so much fun to write. I hope when you get a chance to read it that you will think it’s fun to read.

What a hard choice! I will say River to Redemption. Have a great New Year!
The Refuge. Thinking Mary did the same thing when she was pregnant with baby Jesus!

I am enjoying seeing all your answers of the quote you think is most intriguing or that would encourage you to find out more about the story. Of course, that’s what we want the graphics to do.
Una, Susanne, and Victoria, you are joining in with several others liking Truda’s idiotic dream quote. I’ll have to count up at the end to see if it is the quote picked most often, but These Healing Hills is getting a lot of notice too, as much for the background picture as the quote.
Elizabeth, I’m glad you liked my Hidden Springs mystery quotes. It was so fun writing those three mysteries. I’m hoping to write another one someday.
Tammy, I’l glad you think they are all eye catching quotes, but there’s just something about Woody asking about catching those babies. 🙂
Linda R, I think readers will like meeting Woody in the story. He’s one of the main characters’ little brother and you know how little brothers can be. I saw that even though I never had a brother or a little sister since I was the little sister. LOL.
Would love to read “Murder Comes By Mail”. Sound intriguing! All your books are great reading!

Truda – Appalachian Summer. Have a Blessed New Year
I cannot choose just one or even two or three! I love all of your books!
