“Without mysteries, life would be very dull indeed. What would be left to strive for if everything were known?” ~ Charles de Lint
My first mystery photo didn’t do too badly. Not everyone got it and not everyone didn’t get it. The popular guess was a honeycomb. Very reasonable guess since just a few weeks ago I was all about bees after a swarm rested on a tree stump in our yard and a beekeeper came and captured the hive. By the way, I’m told the bees are very happy at their new home with the workers out collecting pollen and the queen bee busy laying eggs.
But no, the mystery picture wasn’t a a little bit of a honeycomb even if around 25 of you thought it might be. I thought the corn on the cob guesses and the pans of biscuits were great guesses. Wrong, but great guesses. Hope said she knew it wasn’t right but the picture looked like her vitamin pills. A few of you thought of cheetos or cheezits. They are the right color. Debbie saw egg yolks and Ann L. saw an upside egg carton to put those eggs into before they were cracked. Donna Jean liked the idea of carrots stuck down in a jar. That was wrong, but I could so see that.
Love the way all of your imaginations work, but I have to admit to being happy in these mystery photo games when you don’t all get the right answer. But some of you did. Quite a few of you got it almost right when you said it was the center of a flower but then didn’t name the flower. A few of you had the answer absolutely right. Lavon, who guessed second, nailed it,. She had me n thinking oh no, everybody is going to get this one. Then the honeycomb guess took over. But Angie, Marji, and Bonnie also got it exactly right.
Now we’ll see how many of you get this next one exactly right. Could be you will all figure this one out. If you do, I have one that I don’t think anybody will get. In fact, it’s so hard I think maybe I shouldn’t use it at all. Of course, sometimes I think that about one of my mystery photos and then everybody gets it without a problem. So, we will see.
Right or wrong, I love your guesses and your amazing imaginations. Life is more fun with a little mystery in it. And a guess will get you an entry into my book giveaway. I’ll pick three winners by random drawing and notify them by email. Each time you comment with a guess on a new mystery photo, you gt an additional entry. You do have to be at least 18 years old to enter, but feel free to get input from your kids. My grandkids always think it’s fun when I test the pictures on them. I hope you’ll have fun too. Deadline to enter is midnight EST June 6th.
So what is your best guess for this post’s mystery picture?
Hope you have a good Memorial Day tomorrow with time for some things that make you happy.

I think it’s clouds
A closeup of creek water.
This one looks like a super close up of a piece of cheese.
I’ll guess the inside of a biscuit or muffin.
The inside of an English Muffin
My husband says Rice Krispy treats?
It’s hard to tell. Many ideas came to mind but I’m going to guess maybe popcorn or popcorn ball like they used to make in the little house books. 🙂

Thanks, everyone, for making this episode of my mystery photo game fun. I appreciate all of you trying to come up with the answer to the mystery. We’ll see in a few days if any of you have solved this particular mystery.
Paula, cheese oyster crackers would have been a really good guess on picture one. You’re seeing rock salt on this one. Dirty rock salt.
Birdie, Paula’s guess goes well with yours of ice with dirty water underneath. I’ve taken plenty of pictures of ice in the past and I have some rock salt. So could be.
Jeanie, countertops is a great guess. Who knows? It might even be right. Or not. That remains to be seen.
Dana, cheese is a fabulous thought. I have bought swiss cheese from time to time. Knowing me, the one who will take a picture of anything, I might have snapped a picture of cheese just to try to make a mystery photo.
Nancy and Susan, you both are in favor of the idea of a sponge. Sounds very possible. Susan, I can assure you it hasn’t anything to do with Dr. Pimple Popper. Yuck, is right! LOL
Suzanne, you could be right with your guess. I have been known to bake some bread. We’ll have to wait for the rest of the picture to see if you’ve seen this picture straight.
Lavon, you are working that imagination. Love it. I do like to take pictures of flowers, etc. made beautiful with frost. Could be I decided to use one of them for my mystery photo. It does keep me hopping trying to come up with tricky mystery photos.
Terri and Cindy Sue, you are both in the “it’s something to eat” club with your guesses. We’ll see if any of you in that club are right come Wednesday night.
Inside of English muffin
To me it looks like a thin layer of ice and you can see some dirty water under it.
I think it is a closeup of French bread.
No idea what this object is…you stumped me.
But, I see a dogs head on the left of the picture, a little ducky with a hat on to the lower right, and a tiny stink bug up near the top 🤷♀️

Glad I stumped you because all those things you’re seeing has me trying to use my imagination a little better, Marji. I see the dog head and maybe the stink bug, but I’m having a hard time making out that ducky with a hat. I do think you are going to get the prize for the guess that’s the most fun. Love it.
The little ducky is tilted……lower right 😉

Ahh, now I see it. Plain as day. LOL
Glad you can see it now 👏🏻😀
This one is hard! I think it’s maybe a very very close up of one of your frost flower photos. Or maybe a dewy spider web? I’m seriously stretching my imagination. lol
I think this mystery photo is of a piece of homemade bread with some air pockets in it.
I think it’s a close up of a sponge.
If I wanted to be funny, I’d say it was Dr. Pimple Popper opening up a cyst. YUCK!
I think it is a sponge !
This one looks like the center of an English Muffin to me. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw it. I didn’t think the last one was going to be a flower. Amazing how different things look when you really zoom in on and focus just on one part—good lesson about “missing the bigger picture” I guess. 🙂

The first thought can be good, Hope, or can be completely wrong. You’ll have to wait until Wednesday night to see which this first thought is for you. I really thought more would get the daisy mystery photo but it’s much easier to see what that “bigger picture” is when you’ve already seen it and you’re the one who zoomed in on a little bit of it. LOL.
Thanks so much for playing.
I’m guessing cheese.
It reminds me of formica or similar countertops and table tops. Or in newer homes, marble.
I’ll guess rock salt with a bit of dirt in it.
The other picture, I forget to guess. But I thought it looked like cheese oyster crackers.
