If you have been following some of my posts here or on Facebook, you know I’m counting down to the release of my book, The Song of Sourwood Mountain, coming in less than two weeks on May 7th. I’ve been getting some early reviews including the one above from Library Journal. You know I love libraries. So, I’m always glad to see a positive review in the Library Jounal that might mean libraries will want to add my book to their shelves.
But today when I looked at Facebook, some fun memories from this same day in other years popped up. Seems May has been a busy month the last few years for new books to show up for readers.

Last year at this time I was looking forward to my first booksigning for In the Shadow of the River at a neat little store right here in my hometown.
Here is part of what I posted last year. “Tastefully Delicious. They have all kinds of unique food items, baked goods, fun gifts and books. Yes, a store with a little nook for Kentucky books right on Main Street in Lawrenceburg KY. And they have my new book hot off the press. We’re ready to get some of them out to readers tomorrow, Saturday, April 29th.”
Not long after that, the store’s building was hit by strong winds and they have been closed ever since. They did hope they would be able to open back up in April this year, but had some unexpected problems with the building repairs. We had scheduled a signing for The Song of Sourwood Mountain for May 11th, but since they aren’t sure about when they can open, we have postponed that for a week or two. Can’t wait to go shopping in their store again.

In 2022, I was looking forward tothe release of When the Meadow Blooms, again in early May. I couldn’t wait for readers to meet Calla and Sienna and go to Meadowland. Check out my post about The What Next of Storytelling. Counting down to the release of When the Meadow Blooms in 5 days. Here is my Facebook post in 2022 on this day when I was also looking forward “to my first booksigning for When the Meadow Blooms on Saturday, April 30th at Tastefully Delicious, a fun store right in the middle of my hometown, Lawrenceburg, KY.”

A friend, Shelia Stovall, posted this 2019.
Look what came in the mail yesterday. Can’t wait to read THE REFUGE , a Shaker novel by Ann H Gabhart this afternoon.
Shelia is a writer and libraian. Check out her books here.

And this showed up today eight years ago. It doesn’t seem like it has been that long since I visited Hidden Springs and helped Michael figure out this mystery.
Look at this! Murder Comes by Mail got a nice review in Publishers Weekly. Fun to see those reviews when they say good things about my stories.
It can be interesting to look back through what was happening on the same day in different years. In a few years I may be looking back at The Song of Sourwood Mountain, finding its way out to readers.
“You can live your whole life not realizing that what you’re looking for is right in front of you.” ―
It’s good to rejoice in each day and be glad for the good memories. Sometimes I get too busy and let the days slide by without appreciating the blessing of each day and knowing that joy can be right in front of me.

Thank you for sharing my writing journey through the years and numerous times when I was counting down to a new release.
Do you like looking back through your memories to remember what was happening last year or ten years ago or…?

Yes, it’s fun to look back to see what you were doing the past years. I get out my picture albums from time to time to enjoy the memories.

I like looking through photo albums too, Connie. Nowadays everybody has their pictures online. I have made a few photo books online, but it’s just not the same.
I also love looking at memories either on Facebook or my many photo albums.I just finished redoing some of my albums, what a trip down memory lane. How we have changed through the years, I got old, lol.

Oh, surely not, Donna Jean. It’s just those kids that get old, not us. So neat that you are keeping your photo albums up to daye. I need to do that, but I’m years behind. So, it might never happen.
It is usually fun to look at the memories that pop up on Facebook, although some can mark some sad events too. All remind us how quickly time flies by. I am really feeling that today as it marks another year of life for me. I looked forward to reading those books that came up in your memories and am looking just as forward to reading this new one. Can’t wait for it to arrive! 🙂

Is it your birthday, Hope? If so, happy birthday to you. Wishing you many blessings in this gift of a new year. Birthdays are one of the fun times to stroll through those FB memories, especially when I’ve posted about my grandkids’ birthday and put old pictures up on those days to celebrate. I get to enjoy seeing them all again. But it was fun seeing these about books that have come to life for me in the spring.
Yes, today is my birthday-thank you! 🙂 I love looking back at the memories of my kids through the years. I can’t believe they are all grown up especially when some of the memories feel like yesterday instead of years ago!
