Sometimes Mysteries Can Be Solved

The moment one gives close attention to any thing, even a blade of grass it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself. ~Henry Miller

Okay, I love those of you who think I am so tricky that I would never put up a mystery picture that was easy to solve. Sigh. It turns out some mysteries aren’t as mysterious as others. Thank you to those of you who thought I was more mysteriousthan that and so, you exercised your imaginations to come up with something different.

Some of you did really well with that something different. I had to smile at Judy’s guess of water on a shower glass door. That is an idea for a future mystery photo game or how about a fogged  up car window after some kid has drawn a dozen pictures on it with his finger. Judy S. didn’t imagine that, but I just did. 🙂

Sharon’s idea of lace on a wedding dress was extra nice since this is the month of weddings. I’m guessing you probably know several couples having anniversaries this month. I liked Marjorie’s dish soap guess too. And Nancy and Susan saying it was like ocean waves hitting the shore made me ready to pack up and head to the beach. I love walking on the beach at sunrise. How about Judi T’s guess of dryer lint? Love that one. I’m thinking about taking a picture of my dryer lint now.

A couple of you thought about cotton balls and I loved it when Marji thought clouds too easy and went for a more imaginative guess of kitten fur. I do have a kitten now after a feral cat had kittens under my deck. I haven’t had a kitten for over fifty years. I’ve even made friends with the feral cat and named her Mama Mia. I don’t know how much she’s going to like me after I manage to get her in a cat carrier and off to the vet to keep her from being a Mama again.

Lee thought the same about me not posting such an easy mystery and second guessed milk. Joanne says she’s no good at this game, but I love her spirit to keep trying. And if you’re going to see something in a mystery photo, why not flowers? Or a dog the way Loretta did. That’s the way I’d be too. Not knowing but that wouldn’t keep me from coming up with something. Una and Pamela were thinking snow. Could have been.

Well okay, so Sunday’s photo wasn’t a total mystery to all of you. I wasn’t all that tricky this time. It was a bit of a cloud. I really thought it looked a little mysterious. But don’t you just love to see those really white clouds in a really, really blue sky? We’ve been seeing a lot of that blue sky this week. Great haying weather if you are a farmer.

So here are those who grabbed my cloud right out of the sky: Suzanne, Dana, Ann, Birdie, Hope, Nancy T, Marji, Megan, Lisa B., Becky N, and Connie L. Oh well, it was time I posted an easier one. I’m just hoping the new mystery picture tonight won’t be as easy. If it is, I’ll have to pull out all stops for the last couple of mystery photos. And even if I do, you will probably get them right too. Seems as though someone always has the eyes to figure out the mystery.

As for you all who guessed wrong, thank you. That keeps me imagining I can be a little mysterious.

And now the mystery continues. What is that picture up top?

A guess, right, wrong, or I give up, will get you an entry into my book giveaway. Three winners will get their choice of an autographed copy of one of my books. Deadline to enter is June 22 at midnight EST. You must be at least 18 years old to enter.

If you live in the area, here’s your invitation to my Hometown Book Launch for The Song of Sourwood Mountain. I’m having a book party with a book talk, Q & A time (always fun when people ask questions), refreshments, including for sure something chocolate, door prizes, and some free books –  first come, first served – of titles by other Christian authors. It would be so fun to see you there. For those of you too far away to make it, we can just keep celebrating here online.

  1. Maybe because it’s supper time & I’m hungry & want something sweet. Jello salad, some type of pie…..? good grief now I’ve got to go find my recipe books.

  2. I think this is a picture of the flower from the cover of your Song of Sourwood Mountain book. I just finished reading this wonderful story . Love this book !!

  3. The first thing I thought of when I saw this picture, was, flowers on a hummingbird feeder. I’m most likely wrong, but, I’ll stick with that answer.

  4. Got that last one but this one is definitely much harder. At first glance I thought maybe it was a close up of a hummingbird feeder, but I don’t think that is right so maybe a flower pattern on a pillow or chair or perhaps clothing? Can’t wait to find out what it is! 🙂

  5. Well, I was sure my guess would be different, but no, it’s what others saw too – some kind of flower petals.

  6. Well, that’s a toughie! I’m going to go with the obvious….flower petal. But, I’m probably wrong. Sigh. However, I’m enjoying the game. And, thank you for the opportunity to win one of your books!

  7. You’ve stumped me again. I’m guessing flowers..zinnias, maybe?, a rooster comb or watermelon. Can’t wait to see what it really is

  8. Ok, so my answer if part of a flower, and I am sure, again, that is too easy, but I was one of those who thought that of the cloud! I just want to have as many entries as possible because there are a lot more of your books that I still haven’t and want to read!!! Thank you for the fun way of entering a contest.
